Concrete is blamed for much of what’s wrong with late 20th century architecture. But as shown here, modern use of concrete can create the attractive, comfortable, safe and environmentally sound homes, offices, hotels, schools, youth hostels, patient wards, care homes and everything else that we need to build in the 21st century.
While concrete has a reputation for being environmentally unfriendly, this is not true when a building’s total energy consumption is taken into account. Because bPod multi-storey buildings can be insulated to modern low energy standards, the energy savings in use will more than offset the energy going into building them.
Concrete therefore remains the most viable material for multi-storey construction, and recent research shows that we need multi-storey buildings to meet our growing demand for housing and workspace. There simply isn’t land enough available for sprawling, low development in many of the places where new buildings are needed. The bPod system meets these demands in an environmentally responsible and safe manner.
